Take a look at the fan cutouts in the Kauffman Stadium seats for Royals games

Here’s a “Jeopardy!” answer for Royals fans: Amos Otis, David Koechner and Chewbacca.

If you responded “three people/beings who have never been in my kitchen,” you’re not wrong. But the answer we’re looking for is: images of people who are part of the plastic cutouts in the seats at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals gave season-ticket holders the option of sending in a photo of themselves and $40 for a plastic cutout that would be placed in the stands, which would otherwise be empty for Friday’s home opener against the Chicago White Sox.

Half the money went to pay for the cutouts and the other half was given to Royals Charities to help with COVID-19 relief, said Toby Cook, the Royals’ vice president of publicity.

Cook said the team raised roughly $14,000 for charity.

The Royals sold about 750 cutouts to the season-ticket holders and the team added another 200 cutouts of well-known people, both living, dead and fictional. That includes Lucas, Waldo and former Royals like Hal McRae, Willie Wilson and manager Dick Howser.

The fan images have been placed behind home plate (and will be visible on television) and other spots in the stadium. You can see some of them and hear more of what Cook said in the video above.
