Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes got some swag for being in ’99 Club’ on Madden NFL 21
The makers of Madden NFL 21 are releasing the names of members of the “99 Club” on Monday, and EA Tiburon started with a player who everyone knew would be there.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The 99 rating is the highest a player can have in the video game, and it’s a source of pride for NFL players.
Here is how game makers described it last year: “The Madden 99 Club is an exclusive tier of NFL talent that represents the highest level of video game prestige, reserved solely for earned and maintained excellence on the field. A 99 OVR is the maximum possible rating in Madden, and 99 Club status elevates a handful of players above even the most skilled superstars in the league.”
Mahomes didn’t start last season in the “99 Club,” but was added after the Chiefs won their first three games.
So it’s no surprise to see Mahomes make the “99 Club” for this year’s version of the game:
Mahomes got the news after playing in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament this weekend in Nevada.
Travis Kelce got to surprise Mahomes and give him a gift package from the game makers. Mahomes showed some of the items he received and seemed to like a chain in particular.
Here is the clip, and the subtle viewer will notice how Madden NFL 21 blurred the Adidas logo on Mahomes’ shirt:
