Fox 4 will show a replay of Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV win on Saturday
Are you ready for some football? No, really, are you?
While it won’t be a new game, Fox 4 (WDAF-TV) will show a replay of the Chiefs’ 31-20 victory over the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV. The game will air on Saturday (May 2). That’s the three-month anniversary of the Chiefs being crowned NFL champions.
The game will be shown from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., but will not include national pregame or postgame shows or the halftime concert featuring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
Fox will have a pregame show at 6:30 p.m. that will look at “the most exciting plays of the game, key decisions, pivotal moments and chat with (current/former) Chiefs players,” the station said in a news release.
The game had a 62.6 rating in Kansas City and the fourth-quarter numbers were astonishing: a 97 share. That means 97% of Nielsen-measured televisions were tuned to Super Bowl LIV.
Fox 4 Sports Director Rob Collins said in a Twitter message that he is most interested in the final quarter.
“Although I’ve seen it a several times since, I can’t wait to watch the last eight minutes of the game again,” Collins wrote. “The mind-altering comeback led by Patrick Mahomes will certainly be an indelible memory for all of Chiefs Kingdom. Interestingly, most of the local television media with on-field access did not get to see the Mahomes Magic live. During the middle of the fourth quarter, we were escorted down to a corral under the stadium. We were all frantically trying to catch a glimpse of the game on monitors in the walkways.”
The Chiefs’ comeback from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit started with Mahomes calling for “2-3 Jet Chip Wasp” and then connecting with Tyreek Hill on a 44-yard pass.
