Boulevard announces release date for ‘Worth the Wait’ beer to celebrate Chiefs’ title

Chiefs fans will have to wait until next month for this special beer from the Boulevard Brewing Co.

On April 6, Boulevard will release its “Worth the Wait” beer in honor of the Chiefs winning Super Bowl LIV.

This will be an Imperial Red Ale. While Boulevard hasn’t offered a description, CraftBeer.com wrote this about American Imperial Red Ale:

“The use of American hops in the American imperial red ale lends to the perception of medium hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. Coupled with a solid malt profile, this should be a beer with balance between hop bitterness and malt sweetness.”

Boulevard tweeted this look at the beer:

Natalie Gershon, the vice president of marketing for Boulevard, had coyly revealed the name of the beer to The Star last month.

“I promise,” Gershon wrote in an email, “it will be worth the wait!”

This continues a trend of special Boulevard beers honoring KC champions. When the Royals won the 2015 World Series, Boulevard produced a “Crown Town Ale.” Sporting Kansas City’s 2013 MLS Cup victory led to a “championship ale” from Boulevard.

Like the Royals’ World Series beer, “Worth the Wait” makes no mention of the Chiefs or the Super Bowl, because of copyright issues. It also will be sold in 25 ounce bottles.
