Usain Bolt says there is ‘no chance’ Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill could make U.S. Olympic team

A few days before the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV, wide receiver Tyreek Hill told reporters he was pondering a return to track and field.

“Hopefully after the season, if I’m healthy and my mind is still in the right place, I really want to try ... to qualify for some Olympic teams, even go to Penn Relays, give that a try,” Hill said that day.

Next Gen Stats showed Hill recorded the fastest speed in an NFL game this past season. Hill also had world-class speed in high school.

Despite that, retired sprinter Usain Bolt told NBC Sports’ Seth Rubinroit that Hill wouldn’t make it on an Olympic team. One reason: The Olympic Trials, which are in June, would require Hill to run the 200-meter dash three times in three days.

“No, there’s no chance,” said Bolt, who won eight gold medals for Jamaica. “A lot of people think it’s about one-off runs, but it’s rounds that really show who you are and the amount of work you do. So I think no, he wouldn’t make the team.”

The Penn Relays, which is considered one of the top annual track and field events, will be held in April.
