Royals’ Rally Mantis is now at new home at Lakeside Nature Center
And thus ends the Great Rally Mantis story of 2016.
On Monday, the Royals said the praying mantis that the team had been keeping as a mascot was being donated to the Lakeside Nature Center. On Tuesday, the little bugger (Rally Mantis Jr.) was taken to its new terrarium, where it will live out the final months of its life:

So it seems that Royals mascot Sluggerrr did not kill Rally Mantis Jr. as he had threatened on Sunday.
If you want to see the insect that was once housed in the Royals’ clubhouse, the Lakeside Nature Center is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lakeside is located at 4701 E. Gregory Blvd., in Kansas City.
Oh, and the Royals are now 1-0 and averaging 11 runs a game since they got rid of the Rally Mantis.
