Here’s what’s new with the Kansas City Mavericks minor-league hockey team this week
The Kansas City Mavericks will hold their annual Kids Day Game, presented by the Kansas City Zoo, on Tuesday.
Here’s more about that, as well as other happenings with the KC minor-league hockey team this week.
One for the kids
The team’s yearly Kids Day Game starts at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday at Cable Dahmer Arena.
The Mavericks’ opponent for the contest: the Tulsa Oilers.
All lower-bowl tickets to this particular game are $10. Teachers with more than 25 students in attendance will be automatically entered to win $500 in gift cards, and the top five schools in ticket sales will win a visit from a Mavericks player.
Public Practice
The Mavs will hold a public practice on Friday at the Line Creek Community Center.
The center is located at 5940 NW Waukomis Drive (Kansas City, MO, 64151). The practice will begin at 5:45 p.m.
Next game (after Tuesday)
On the heels of playing five straight games at home, the Mavericks return to the road Sunday ... but they won’t be going far.
KC takes on the geographic-rival Wichita Thunder this coming weekend. The puck drops at 4:05 p.m. Sunday at INTRUST Bank Arena.
Where KC stands
After three home games in three nights, the Mavericks completed their weekend 2-1-0 and currently sit in fourth place in the ECHL Mountain Division (5-3-1).
Forward Tristan Mullin ranks second in the ECHL with 1.63 points per game (min. 5 GP) and is tied for second place in the league with eight goals. Mullin has scored in each of his last three game and seven of his eight games played this season.
