Chiefs

One of Chiefs’ key free-agent signings was at training camp practice for 1st time

The Chiefs got their first look at cornerback Kristian Fulton at training camp Thursday.

Fulton, the former Chargers star, was a big offseason addition for the Chiefs. He signed a two-year, $20 million contract with KC in March, but an ankle injury had kept him out of training camp at Missouri Western.

The Chiefs had put Fulton on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, but he was in a helmet and shells and did some individual work on Thursday.

Linebacker Drue Tranquill (back) also returned and did some light activities.

Wide receivers Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (ankle) and Rashee Rice (groin) were out again, although Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Rice’s injury was minor and he’s been held out as a precaution; he caught some tennis balls on the sideline.

Tight end Jake Briningstool (hamstring) and linebacker Cam Jones (unknown) also didn’t participate in Thursday’s nearly 2 1/2-hour practice session ahead of the Chiefs’ first preseason game Saturday.

The Chiefs play the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium at 7 p.m.

Reid said defensive tackle Fabien Lovett Sr. left practice on Thursday because of an ankle injury, but he later returned. And running back Brashard Smith injured his finger near the end of practice.
