Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes calls it an ‘incredible project.’ Watch the trailer here

ESPN has released a trailer — and a name — for its upcoming documentary on the Kansas City Chiefs.

“The Kingdom,” a six-episode docuseries following the Chiefs during their 2024 season that ended with a Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, will premiere later this year on ESPN’s platforms.

ESPN revealed a 30-second trailer for the series Tuesday.

Mahomes, in the short snippet, gives insight into the team’s 17-3 season and also, in one clip, tells those working the cameras in the locker room to stop filming.

During an event celebrating the production on Tuesday, Mahomes said the team gave ESPN “unfiltered access to our lives — on and off the field.” He also said the production would showcase “the true heart of our great city, the team and what it takes to be a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.”

“It was an honor to be a part of this incredible project,” Mahomes said, “and I can’t wait for all of you to see it.”

ESPN first announced in late March that the Chiefs would be the subject of an original content series. ESPN said it would be produced by many of the same people who worked on “The Last Dance,” a 2020 docuseries centered on NBA star Michael Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls.
