Chiefs free-agency tracker, updates: KC adds CB as Justin Reid, D-Hop depart | Report
6:29 p.m. update
A Chiefs late-season rental has found a new team.
Veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins will be signing with the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal, Schefter reports, is a one-year pact for $5 million that could reach $6 million with incentives.
KC brought on Hopkins midseason in a trade with the Tennessee Titans for a fifth-round pick. The 32-year-old had eight catches for 86 yards in a win against Tampa Bay and four receptions for 90 yards in a home victory over Las Vegas before his production dwindled down the stretch and in the playoffs.
This still marked the furthest postseason advancement of Hopkins’ career, as he had never made a Super Bowl in his 12-year career before this past season. Hopkins had two catches for 18 yards with a touchdown and two-point conversion in KC’s 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.
The Chiefs still have roster spots to fill at receiver. KC has Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy under contract and also agreed to terms on a one-year extension with Hollywood Brown on Saturday.
Outside that, only Skyy Moore and Nikko Remigio remain on the active roster as wideouts from last year’s team.

The Chiefs added some veteran depth at tight end on Tuesday.
Robert Tonyan, most recently with the Minnesota Vikings, will be signing with the Chiefs, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Tonyan, 30, had his most productive seasons with the Green Bay Packers, going over 50 receptions in both 2020 and 2022.
Last year, he played in five games for the Vikings with no receptions.
The Chiefs’ tight-end position returns Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and also fourth-round rookie Jared Wiley, who was lost for the season in November because of a knee injury.
4:31 p.m. update
A key member of the Kansas City Chiefs defense is moving closer to home.
Safety Justin Reid, who spent the last three years with KC after joining the team as a free agent, has agreed to a three-year contract with the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The deal, Schefter said, is for $31.5 million, with $22.5 million guaranteed.
Reid, 28, was born in Louisiana before going to college at Stanford. He originally joined the Chiefs in March 2022 after signing a similar three-year, $31.5 contract that had $20.48 million guaranteed.
The Chiefs have some internal options to replace Reid. Rookie safety Jaden Hicks saw an increase in playing time as last season progressed, while cornerback Chamarri Conner also could shift more to safety after struggling last year in a slot corner role.
Reid started 49 regular-season games in three seasons with KC and emerged as an immediate leader while also adding to the team’s physicality on the back end. He played some of his best football for the Chiefs down the stretch last season; from Week 15 through the Super Bowl, his 86.1 defensive grade at Pro Football Focus ranked first among 53 NFL safeties who played at least 50% of their team’s snaps.
11:47 a.m. update
The Chiefs addressed a need in their secondary during the second day of the NFL’s free-agency open negotiation period.
KC agreed to terms with Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Kristian Fulton, according to Schefter. The deal, Schefter said, would be two years for $20 million, with $15 million guaranteed.
Fulton, 26, was ranked 101st on Pro Football Focus’ top free agent list. He had one interception in 2024, with that coming against the Chiefs on the same play when receiver Rashee Rice injured his knee.
Originally a second-round pick of the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL Draft, Fulton has started 51 games in five NFL seasons.
KC struggled to find consistency in 2024 at its second cornerback spot behind Trent McDuffie. Top candidates for that role before the Fulton addition were 2022 draft picks Jaylen Watson and Joshua Williams.
The Chiefs already had a busy day in free agency on Monday.
Here are some of the Chiefs’ previous notable additions (and subtractions):
• The Chiefs agreed to a contract with former 49ers left tackle Jaylon Moore, according to Schefter. The deal, via Schefter, is two years for $30 million, with $21.24 million guaranteed at signing.
Moore was ranked 155th on Pro Football Focus’ top free agents list. The 27-year-old started five games for the 49ers last season while filling in for injured left tackle Trent Williams.
• KC will be bringing in veteran running back Elijah Mitchell from the San Francisco 49ers, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Mitchell’s deal, via Schultz, will be worth up to $3.5 million.
• Long-snapper James Winchester will return to the team on a one-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The deal, Rapoport says, will be for $1.65 million guaranteed.
• Tershawn “Turk” Wharton agreed to a three-year deal with the Carolina Panthers, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo says the contract will be $54 million, with $30 million guaranteed.
• Samaje Perine, who served as the Chiefs’ third-down back last season, will join the Cincinnati Bengals on a two-year deal, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. The new contract will be worth up to $3.8 million, Garafolo reported.
• Justin Watson, who was with KC the last three seasons, agreed to a new contract with the Houston Texans, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
