Photos: Chiefs take the stage to meet the world’s media at Super Bowl LIX Opening Night

Members of the Kansas City Chiefs and their Super Bowl LIX opponents, the Philadelphia Eagles are no strangers to probing questions from members of the media. It’s part of the job of living in the limelight of professional sports.

When a team makes it to the Super Bowl, the spotlight put on the teams becomes almost blinding.

A select group of Chiefs and Eagle players faced a crush of reporters and photographers Monday night during Super Bowl Opening Night, an event once known as Media Day. That event has evolved into a spectacle that involves fans, player interviews and a meeting of the opposing teams on a stage with the prized Lombardi Trophy. It all took place on the field at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans where Sunday’s game will be played.

Eagles players and coaches were first to take on the onslaught of questions from the media and then the Chiefs had their turn.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and other players sat at their individual kiosks with their names on a sign above each of them so anyone who didn’t know they were talking to Kelce or Mahomes had something to clue them in.

While many of the media outlets covering the event were there probing the players for their thoughts on the upcoming game, there were plenty in attendance that represent media outlets focused on the celebrity and entertainment aspects of one of America’s biggest spectacles. Kelce drew a sizable crowd of reporters who wanted to get in their questions about his relationship with superstar singer Taylor Swift.
