Chiefs

These three Kansas City Chiefs were selected by their peers as All-Pro players

Three Chiefs — defensive lineman Chris Jones, center Creed Humphrey and guard/tackle Joe Thuney — were selected to the Players All-Pro team this week.

The NFL players determine this annual all-star team via the NFL Players Association — players vote for others at their position as well as positions against which they line up.

For instance, a center can vote for league’s best center as well as their top nose tackle, interior defensive lineman or off-ball linebacker.

A final parameter: Players cannot vote for themselves or their teammates.

It’s the third year the players have voted for the best among their peers, and Jones has been honored each time. This season, he recorded 20 quarterback hits and five sacks in 15 games. His 74 pressures ranked sixth in the NFL.

Humphrey and Thuney, meanwhile, were selected for the first time. Humphrey was Pro Football Focus’ overall top-rated center and pass-blocking center this season.

Thuney had his usual solid season at left guard before kicking out to left tackle for three late-season games. He didn’t allow a sack against some of the NFL’s top pass-rushing defensive linemen, including Myles Garrett and T.J. Watt.

Jones, Humphrey and Thuney were also named starters for the Pro Bowl Games, with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and offensive lineman Trey Smith joining them in that distinction.
