Follow stats, scores & live commentary from Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
The AFC’s No. 1 seed already belongs to the Kansas City Chiefs, but there’s plenty on the line when Carson Wentz and company take the field for the Week 18 regular-season finale.
Just not for KC.
The Denver Broncos, today’s opponent, are in a win-and-in scenario. If they lose, the No. 7 seed in the playoffs goes to either the Cincinnati Bengals or, if they win their game today, the Miami Dolphins. For that, the Chiefs find themselves rather heavy underdogs — to the tune or 10-plus points.
We’ll see if Andy Reid has something up his sleeve to shake up the AFC playoff picture. Kickoff approaches, so here’s what you need to know...

Three storylines for Chiefs at Broncos
How’s the weather?
Or how was the weather, more aptly, as the Chiefs attempted to fly out for this road game. They hoped to move up their travel plans to account for the snow and ice that hit Kansas City, then other issues pushed their takeoff time back.
Here’s what we know: The Chiefs made it to Denver, and they’re good to go for today’s game. How will things look on the field? That’s another question.
Carson Wentz time
The Chiefs named Carson Wentz their starting quarterback early in the week, with nothing to gain from the Week 18 game. But for Wentz, who once starred for the Eagles before an injury took him out for the postseason, this could be an audition of sorts for a starting job (or QB competition) elsewhere next season.
It’s a meaningful opportunity for Wentz, who knows exactly how important a good backup quarterback is. Star columnist Vahe Gregorian detailed Wentz’s journey — and discovery of that very thing — this week.
The turnover margin is trending up
It’s been well-documented that the Chiefs have played a bunch of close games this year, but they’ve looked more and more impressive of late.
One reason for that? The Chiefs are starting to force turnovers, something they struggled with early in the season. And Patrick Mahomes, at the same time, hasn’t been committing them.
That’s a good sign for KC as the playoffs roll around, but there is one question with the Chiefs set to rest so many players. Are they risking losing their edge?
We’ll find out soon enough, with their first playoff game two weeks away.
