Do you go to the NFL game being played there this week?
Nope. You watch the once-popular television show “Friday Night Lights” of course.
That’s what Sao Paulo, Brazil, native Ellen Araujo says she did with her family after her father’s interest in the U.S.-style game drew her family into the sport. Araujo’s introduction to the game led her to a love of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Araujo, who moved to the U.S. five years ago, was spotted at the Chiefs’ summer training camp in St. Joseph with a sign with the Brazilian flag and the Chiefs’ arrowhead logo that essentially spelled out “From Brazil to the kingdom”.
Travis Kelce is her favorite Chiefs player. She says he was her favorite even before Taylor Swift claimed him.
Araujo’s native Sao Paulo, where soccer is nearly religion, is being tempted this week by the NFL to join in on the other football game. The Green Bay Packers will play the Philadelphia Eagles Friday night at Arena Corinthians in Sao Paulo in one of five NFL games being played outside of the United States this season.
