Here is Wednesday’s Super Bowl LVIII pool report from Kansas City Chiefs practice
The Chiefs on Wednesday held their second full practice of the week, according to a pool reporter from the Pro Football Writers of America.
NBC Sports’ Peter King was the reporter allowed to watch the Chiefs’ 76-minute practice at the Raiders’ training facility in Henderson, Nevada. The outdoor session began at 1:30 p.m. locally (3:30 p.m. in Kansas City).
The pool report noted the Chiefs practiced without pads or helmets, with the exception of the quarterbacks who wore helmets. On Monday, the Chiefs practiced in full pads.
“This is a normal Wednesday for the latter quarter of the season,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, per the report. “It’s a lot of mental work. Recognition, going through the plays, formations. We just cut back on the speed of it. We came out on Monday, and we were in full pads. Then yesterday we did just a quick get out of the hotel and go through more reps with the plays. Slow pace. Then today, we did this part.”
Mahomes and the first-team offense worked for a little less than 20 minutes against the Chiefs’ scout-team defense as CBS Sports’ Jim Nantz and Tony Romo watched.
Nick Allegretti played left guard because Joe Thuney has been out since suffering a pectoral injury against the Buffalo Bills in an AFC Divisional playoff game.
“I would probably bet towards Allegretti playing,” Reid said in the report. “For Joe (Thuney), it’s a strength thing. Right now, it’s not strong enough.”
Reid also had good things to say about the Raiders’ Intermountain Health and Performance Center.
“They did this the right way,” Reid said. “It’s roomy. They’re not going to outgrow it in a year or two.
“I never thought I’d be practicing here. I’m not sure that they’re the happiest about it. We’re trying to take as good a care of it as we possibly can. We respect what they’ve got here. This is beautiful.”
