Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor — and his mother — took to social media Wednesday to clear up some confusion.

“Hello everyone,” Taylor’s mother Wendy began in a video posted to X (formerly Twitter). “Just want to jump on here really, really quick to let you know that I’m safe, I’m alive and I’m well.”

The post was necessary because somehow word spread on social media that she had died four days earlier. But it was Taylor’s grandmother Mary, his father’s mother, who had passed away.

“Just to clear the air,” Jawaan Taylor posted on X, formerly Twitter. “It’s my Grandmother that passed away 4 days ago, NOT my mother. Long Live Mary Taylor.”

Taylor, who started every game at right tackle in his first season with the Chiefs, also wanted to remember his father, Robert, who died two years ago.

“He was big into football, and that’s why were so close,” Taylor said.
