Chiefs fans: You’re invited to join our Red Kingdom Road Trip to the Super Bowl
The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to the Super Bowl, and so are we.
The Star is sending three journalists on a Red Kingdom Road Trip from Kansas City to Las Vegas to tell unique stories about Chiefs fans leading up to the Super Bowl. We’ll be making stops in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and Arizona on our way to the big game, but we need your help:
Where are some places we should stop on our way through those five states? Are you a superfan with a great story to tell? Or maybe you have a fan cave that’s a must-see? Perhaps, you’re road-tripping to the Super Bowl, too.
We want to connect with as many fans as possible whether you’re on our driving route or not. And we want to make it fun for you, too.
Tell us your Chiefs fan story using the form at the bottom of this article, and you may be featured in our Super Bowl coverage in stories, on social media or in newsletters.
You’ll also be automatically entered to win the Ultimate Fan Pack, which includes an autographed, framed Travis Kelce jersey, a Yeti tailgating cooler and more Chiefs gear and is valued at $1,000. See full contest details here.
The New America’s Team?
Chiefs Kingdom has grown far beyond the Kansas City metro during the Patrick Mahomes era. The team is in contention to be considered a true sports dynasty. Earlier this week, the famed sports broadcaster Bob Costas said on CNN that he thinks the Chiefs have replaced the Dallas Cowboys as America’s Team.
We have a suspicion that he might be right.
After all, this will be the Chiefs’ fourth Super Bowl in five years. Patrick Mahomes has a chance to lift his third Lombardi Trophy and etch his name onto an exclusive list of NFL legends. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce has the chance to build on what’s already been a big year — on and off the field.
From hosting “Saturday Night Live” to dating Time’s 2023 Person of the Year, it’s no secret that Kelce has ascended to a new level of fame. And Taylor Swift joining Chiefs Kingdom has boosted already-high game viewership, supported local Kansas City businesses, and introduced a legendary NFL team to a legion of new fans.
It all means that more people than ever are paying attention to the Chiefs.
