How Chiefs schemed major change vs. Bills — and put these defenders in an awful spot

The Kansas City Chiefs were dominant in their run game during a 27-24 Divisional Round win Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

In this video, KC Star reporter Jesse Newell and Brett Taveau (author of the Chiefs book “Unpacking Greatness” and a longtime high school offensive coordinator) look at what KC did to clear up huge running lanes for backs Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

A review of the film — and a postgame chat with center Creed Humphrey — indicates that KC was ready for what Buffalo did defensively. As a result, the Chiefs countered the Bills with a seldom-used scheme ... while putting Buffalo’s smaller defenders in incredibly difficult spots.
