Chiefs ran ‘basically’ same play to beat L.A. two years in a row. Let’s take a look

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid confirmed this week that his team ran “basically” the same play to free up tight end Travis Kelce for game-winning touchdowns in their last two road games against the Los Angeles Chargers. That included Kelce’s 17-yard fourth-quarter TD in KC’s 30-27 victory on Sunday.

In this video, Kansas City Star reporter Jesse Newell and Brett Taveau — author of the Chiefs book “Unpacking Greatness” and a longtime high school offensive coordinator — explain how the Chiefs’ coaching staff contributed to clearing out Kelce on both plays, while also highlighting how KC has mastered the art of helping out teammates without getting penalties.
