Here’s who’s playing in NFL’s international series (KC Chiefs can put passports away)
The NFL on Wednesday announced its full slate of international games for this fall’s 2022 season.
The Chiefs aren’t involved in any of them.
Instead, the three games in London will feature matchups between the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Green Bay Packers, and Denver Broncos and Jacksonville Jaguars.
The first NFL game in Munich, Germany, showcases the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while the contest in Mexico City pairs the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals.
Chiefs chairman & CEO Clark Hunt said during the recently concluded NFL Draft that he expects his team to participate in another international game in the upcoming years.
“If we’re not selected this year, I think that we’ll be selected in the next two or three years,” Hunt said last Friday. “Obviously, we would be excited to play in Germany if the opportunity presents itself.”
The last time the Chiefs played in the league’s international series was in Week 11 of the 2019 regular season. Kansas City defeated the Los Angeles Chargers 24-17 in Mexico City.
The NFL previously revealed that the Chiefs will play host to the Chargers in the first Thursday night game of the season at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 15.
But the Chiefs will need to wait another week to learn the dates and times for their other games in 2022.
The NFL continues its slow tease of the upcoming 2022 regular season on May 9, when select matchups will be released. The full schedule reveal is set for May 12.
