Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his girlfriend Brittany Matthews are engaged
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes received a ring on Tuesday night and gave one away, too.
Shortly after Mahomes received his Super Bowl LIV championship ring at Arrowhead Stadium, he shared a photo on an Instagram story of the engagement ring he gave to his girlfriend Brittany Matthews.
Matthews shared a photo of how he popped the question, too:
Mahomes, 24, and Matthews started dating at Whitehouse (Texas) High School, when Mahomes was a sophomore and Matthews a junior.
When their relationship began, Mahomes was still playing safety on the football team, before his stardom arrived. He would eventually become a standout on the football and basketball teams, and Matthews with the soccer team.
Matthews, 25, went on to play at the University of Texas at Tyler and later signed to play professionally in Iceland.
When The Star visited Whitehouse in January ahead of the Super Bowl, friends who attended school with them called Matthews “his rock.” In a high school yearbook page, Mahomes featured a collage of pictures with his father, mother, brother and Matthews.
At the Super Bowl ring ceremony, the Chiefs shared video of family members congratulating the players, and Matthews was the one who sent her love to Mahomes.

The couple hasn’t made a wedding date known.
