Here is a closer look at the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV championship rings

Well, how do you like them?

The Chiefs received their Super Bowl LIV championship rings in a ceremony Tuesday night at Arrowhead Stadium, and images of the jewelry were soon quickly shared on social media.

These rings apparently have a special power: They can conjure up free cheeseburgers. OK, maybe not, but Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked at Tuesday’s news conference if he planned to wear the ring.

“You wear it for special occasions,” Reid said. “Or if you want a free cheeseburger, you just point right there and show them the ring and you might get one. I’ve had a little bit of a sneak peek at a picture of one, so I kind of know what it looks like on a piece of paper.

“But I look forward to seeing it just like we’re all looking forward to seeing it. I mean, there’s such hard work that’s gone into it. Clark Hunt, Tavia Hunt, the Hunt family have gone above and beyond with this.”

Here is a closer look at the rings:

Jostens, which made the rings, shared details of the rings:

  • There are 60 diamonds set inside an Arrowhead-shaped “adornment” that honors 60 seasons of Chiefs football.
  • The letters KC are made up of yellow gold “shimmer with 16 custom-cut rubies that represent the franchise’s 10 AFC West division titles combined with six playoff appearances under Head Coach Andy Reid.”
  • The 50 diamonds that are around the rubies and logo mark the the 50 years between Super Bowl titles.
  • The 122 diamonds along the top edges signify 100 seasons of NFL football and the Chiefs’ 22 playoff appearances.
  • Two “marquise diamonds” represent the two franchise Super Bowl victories, and four “baguette rubies” on the top and bottom ring edges symbolize four straight AFC West titles.
  • The words “World Champions” are made up of contrasting yellow gold.
  • Each players name is on the left side of the ring in “shining yellow gold.” Below that, “flags that capture the ’69 and ’19 Super Bowl victories fly high alongside the player’s number or title set in diamonds. BE GREAT, the team’s championship season motto, is set in a banner beneath, followed by the numbers 142.2, the decibel rating that makes Arrowhead Stadium the loudest in the world.”
  • The right side has the words “Chiefs Kingdom” with the Super Bowl LIV logo in white gold. It also has the final score, 31-20, and the championship year date, 2019.
  • Inside are etched scores, logos and point deficits of in the postseason.
  • A football located on the outer band features the initials LH, which honors franchise founder Lamar Hunt, who coined the name “Super Bowl.”

A few more details from Jostens: “The rings feature a total of 9 baguette diamonds which total .9 carats, 2 marquise diamonds equaling .7 carats and 244 round diamonds for a total of 3.3 carats. The rings also boast 4 baguette rubies, and 32 custom-cut rubies which are equal to 5.95 carats. The rings have an incredible total gem carat weight of 10.85 carats.”
