Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gives his dad a generous 50th birthday gift

Fresh off the half-billion contract he signed last month, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is sharing his new wealth with his family.

Mahomes’ father, Pat Sr., celebrated his 50th birthday last weekend, and Patrick went all-in for it. Mahomes purchased his dad a Cadillac Escalade, he said.

There’s a special significance behind the make, model and color of vehicle he picked out.

“Whenever I was young, and he was in MLB, I remember him having the black Escalade,” Mahomes said. “So I ended up getting him one for his birthday.”

Mahomes Sr. pitched parts of 11 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Twins, Mets, Red Sox, Pirates and Rangers. He retired in 2003, when Patrick Mahomes was 8 years old. But the memory of his vehicle apparently stuck.

Mahomes has a new car himself, a Ferrari 812 SuperFast.

And he also recently purchased an ownership stake in the Kansas City Royals.
