Chiefs add depth to defensive secondary with signing of safety Andrew Soroh
A familiar face returns to Kansas City.
The Chiefs on Friday re-signed safety Andrew Soroh, according to Soroh’s agent, David Canter.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Soroh originally joined the Chiefs in 2019 as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic before being released as part of the team’s personnel moves to set their initial 53-player roster that would go on to win Super Bowl LIV.
Soroh, 24, was then drafted by the New York Guardians of the XFL, which in April filed for bankruptcy. In five games with the Guardians, he totaled 18 tackles and an interception.
With his return to the Chiefs, Soroh provides depth at the defensive back positions ahead of training camp.
He joins a safety group consisting of Tyrann Mathieu, Juan Thornhill, Daniel Sorensen, Armani Watts, Jalen Julius and Rodney Clemons. Additionally, 2020 draft picks L’Jarius Sneed and BoPete Keyes provide flexibility to play cornerback and safety.
The Chiefs entered Friday morning with 90 players on their offseason roster, signaling that a corresponding move will need to take place to accommodate the addition of Soroh.
