It’s NFL Draft day!

Finally, a live sporting event to discuss, digest and get emotional about. It all begins with tonight’s first round and runs through Friday and Saturday, too. This year’s draft will be different with sports in America shut down due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic — instead of taking place in Las Vegas, the selection process will play out in the homes of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and league and team personnel ... including, of course, the Super Bowl-champion Chiefs.

Important programming note: Be sure to spend the evening with us on our night-long special livestream at www.facebook.com/kansascitystar/. We’ll be bringing in special guests from coast to coast starting at 6:45 p.m. Central and continuing through the final pick that so many of you are waiting for here in Kansas City.

OK, back to business at hand: In this final pre-draft episode of our daily SportsBeat KC podcast, Star beat writer Herbie Teope makes his final mock-draft call for Brett Veach, Andy Reid and Co., and columnist Vahe Gregorian chats with host Blair Kerkhoff about some fun draft history. Let’s get to it.
