Chiefs’ Fisher, Damien Williams fined by NFL for unsportsmanlike conduct vs. Texans

Two Chiefs players had notable celebrations after touchdowns during Kansas City’s wild 51-31 win over the Houston Texans in the AFC Divisional Round last weekend.

Now, they’re paying for it, according to a league source.

Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher incurred a $14,037 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct after he celebrated tight end Blake Bell’s 8-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter by grabbing two beers from the stands and dumping them over his helmet.

The celebration was a signature move of former professional wrestler “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, who tweeted a clip with his entrance theme song playing over video of Fisher’s celebration. Austin’s tweet went viral, garnering more than 36,000 retweets and 167,000 likes.

Chiefs running back Damien Williams received a $10,527 fine from the NFL for his own unsportsmanlike conduct.

Upon scoring on a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter, Williams drew a taunting penalty for placing the football in front of Texans defensive tackle Brandon Dunn, who was on all fours after pushing Williams out of the end zone.

The two Chiefs players might be lighter in the wallet for now with the fines, but they and their teammates have an opportunity to add to their playoff roster bonuses with a Super Bowl appearance, should the Chiefs defeat the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday.

The NFL Network first reported the news of the players’ fines.
