Frank Clark limited Wednesday; Spencer Ware’s status to be determined before Sunday

Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark was limited in practice Wednesday, coach Andy Reid said.

Clark left Sunday’s victory over the Oakland Raiders with a shoulder injury. Clark has said he had been playing with a pinched nerve in his neck since training camp.

Clark had recorded a sack in three straight games, four total, until the Raiders game. Against the L.A. Chargers in Mexico City on Nov. 18, Clark was credited with three quarterback hits and his third forced fumble this season.

Also missing practice Wednesday: cornerbacks Morris Claiborne (shoulder) and Rashad Fenton (hamstring) and running backs Damien Williams (ribs) and Darrel Williams (hamstring).

The Chiefs listed quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee), wide receiver Tyreek Hill (hamstring), left tackle Eric Fisher (groin), cornerback Kendall Fuller (thumb), defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi (elbow), defensive end Alex Okafor (ankle) and safety Jordan Lucas (shoulder) as full participants.

In other injury-related news, the Chiefs officially designated defensive tackle Xavier Williams to return from injured reserve. The move opens a three-week window for the Chiefs to decide whether to activate Williams, who was placed on injured reserve in early October because of a high ankle sprain, to the active 53-player roster or keep on him on injured reserve.

The Chiefs added depth at running back Tuesday by signing Spencer Ware, who had been with the Chiefs from 2015-18. He was the team’s leading rusher in 2016 with 921 yards. Ware signed with the Indianapolis Colts in in April and was released in September.

“We’ll see at the end of the week how he fits in,” Reid said.

The Chiefs visit the New England Patriots on Sunday for a 3:25 p.m. kickoff.
