Rev ‘em up! NASCAR racing roars into Kansas Speedway this week: ticket & TV info

Drivers, start your engines ...

It’s race week at Kansas Speedway again.

NASCAR makes its first of two yearly visits to the 1.5-mile asphalt track in Kansas City, Kansas, with races starting Friday and concluding on Sunday.

Friday, May 9 brings this spring’s first Kansas night event: the ARCA Menard’s Series Tide 150. The 100-lap race starts at 7 p.m. and will be televised live on FS1 (with a livestream on the Fox Sports app).

Fans of evening competition won’t have to wait long for the track’s second night race of the year. Scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10 is the Heart of Health Care 200, a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event. It will be shown on TV via FSI (also livestreamed on the Fox Sports app).

The marquee race for the weekend — the AdventHealth 400 — is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 11 at Kansas Speedway, with a live broadcast on FS1 (again, livestreamed as well on the Fox Sports app).

The AdventHealth 400 race, like others on the NASCAR Cup circuit, will consist of three stages. The race totals 267 laps across 400 miles.

Kyle Larson won last spring’s edition of the AdventHealth 400, and it was a thriller: He beat Chris Buesche to the checkered flag by about an inch — the closest finish in NASCAR Cup history.

Driver Ross Chastain won the most recent NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway, last autumn’s Hollywood Casino 400. Denny Hamlin holds the record for most driver victories here, with four.

The early-week weather forecast was showing some potential for rain Thursday, but clear skies were predicted to follow through the weekend.

Tickets start at about $33 for the ARCA and trucks races. Tickets for the Sunday main event start around $56. Children 12 and under may receive a discounted or free admission with a paying adult, depending on the race.
