It was a wire-to-wire victory for Daryn Pittman Friday night at Lakeside Speedway, as the pole-winner secured his ninth feature win of the season in the World of Outlaws sprint car series’ FVP Platinum Battery Shootout.

Pittman was challenged early in the race by Logan Shuchart, but Schuchart exited under caution on Lap 12 and the Oklahoma native Pittman, the nine-time and defending series champion, piloted his Kasey Kahne Racing No. 9 car to the 30-lap decision.

Sheldon Haudenschild was third, followed by Shane Stewart. Joey Saldana of Jason Johnson Racing finished fifth.

Saldana has the ride in the JJR No. 41 for several more upcoming and important races in North Carolina. Johnson died in June in a crash in Wisconsin. The JJR team continues to race to finish out the season in Johnson’s memory.

Brad Sweet, Jason Sides, Ian Madsen, Kraig Kinser and Brent Marks rounded out the top 10.
