The Kansas City Royals’ weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards will now carry over into Monday after a second consecutive rainout prevented the teams from opening the series on Saturday night.

Saturday night’s game will now be made up at 11:05 a.m. Central Time Monday. Both teams had previously been scheduled to have that day off.

The Royals begin a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington on Tuesday night, while the Orioles will travel to St. Louis for a series with the Cardinals starting on Tuesday night.

Friday night’s postponed game will be made up as part of a straight doubleheader starting at 12:35 p.m. Central time Sunday.

The Royals will stick with their previous starting pitching plans for the doubleheader on Sunday, having veteran right-hander Zack Greinke (0-2, 2.57) pitch the first game followed by left-hander Daniel Lynch (2-1, 3.86) in the second game.

Right-hander Carlos Hernández (0-1, 6.00) was slated to start on Saturday night, but he will now start on Monday.

WIth the recent schedule changes, the Royals will now play 19 games in the next 17 days, including a pair of doubleheaders.

The Royals have not made any roster moves in advance of Sunday’s doubleheader — they’ll be allowed to add a 27th man to the roster — but catcher Sebastian Rivero and pitcher Matt Peacock are expected to join the team in Baltimore on taxi squad from the minor leagues.
