Royals’ Alex Gordon finally snaps long home-run drought

The wait is over.

After 192 at-bats, Royals left fielder Alex Gordon finally went deep.

His first homer of the 2017 season came Tuesday night at Kauffman Stadium, in a third-inning blast against Astros starter David Paulino. The homer traveled an estimated 433 feet and ricocheted off the green brick wall beyond the center-field fence.

Mired in a brutal slump for months, Gordon had not homered since Sept. 25, 2016. The drought included 50 games and 172 at-bats this season. The homer sliced the Astros’ lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the third.

Moments later, Houston scored four runs in the fourth, jumping back ahead 7-1.
