An expected quartet of call-ups will join the Royals on Tuesday. The team recalled from Class AA Northwest Arkansas infielder Christian Colon, reliever Aaron Crow, outfielder Terrance Gore and pitcher Liam Hendriks.

The Royals recently optioned Colon, Crow and Hendriks to Class AA, rather than Class AAA, because the Omaha club reached the Pacific Coast League playoffs, and the players would have been forced to spend 10 days there on assignment. Because the Naturals’ season ended on Monday, the four players are now eligible.

Colon will start at third base on Tuesday. With Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis and Greg Holland potentially unavailable, Crow could close. Hendriks will also fortify the middle of the bullpen.

Gore, 23, is the youngest and least-experienced of the bunch. The team brought him up as a pinch-running specialist. First-base coach Rusty Kuntz put him through drills on Tuesday afternoon.
