Olathe Northwest’s Audrey Judd is The Star’s All-Metro girls golfer of year

When Olathe Northwest High School senior Audrey Judd shot an 87 at the Kansas Class 6A state tournament her freshman year, her coaches knew she’d be something special.

After an eighth-place finish her sophomore season, Judd dominated the scene with back-to-back individual state championships her junior and senior years. As a result, Judd is The Star’s All-Metro girls golfer of the year.

“You could just kind of tell by her attitude toward the game, the way she practiced and her overall commitment to the game that she was going to be a really good player,” Olathe Northwest coach Sydney Tucker said. “I think her freshman and sophomore years she needed to gain that experience, then she really came on her junior and senior years.”

Judd, who has signed to play golf at Nebraska next season, cruised through the season and finished in the top three in every tournament she played in. Along the way, she placed first in the Olathe Cup, the Shawnee Mission East Invitational, the Lawrence Invitational, the Lawrence Free State Invitational and the Olathe East Invitational. She also won Sunflower League and regional titles.

Over the past two seasons, Judd medaled in all but two of the high school tournaments in which she competed, including two Sunflower League and two regional championships.

Judd is the top high school female golfer in Kansas and the No. 70 prospect out of Class of 2014, according to the GolfWeek/Sagarin rating.
