Rain fell intermittently in Ozark on Saturday, but the baseball — Missouri’s high school state championship games — didn’t stop at the Ozark Mountain Sports Complex.

For defending Class 6 champion Blue Springs South, the problem in Ozark wasn’t the weather. It was the opposing pitcher for Christian Brothers College — and the Cadets’ hot bats, especially early.

The Jaguars struggled at the plate and even trailed 5-0. But then Blue Springs South (29-10) got its bats going and never stopped mashing, running back its title with a 10-5 victory over CBC.

The Jaguars scored once in the third inning, twice in the fourth, three times in the fifth and a door-slamming four times in the sixth.

CBC, meanwhile, got on the scoreboard immediately but couldn’t plate runs down the stretch. Senior Patrick Effer drove in a couple in the first inning and junior Corde Gage knocked in another with a single in the second.

Blue Springs South was down five runs when the Jaguars finally got on the board with a third-inning sacrifice fly to left by Blayke Morgan. Adding two more in the fourth reduced the Cadets’ lead to 5-3.

Graduating senior right fielder Grayden Seuferling, who will play for Wake Forest next year, drove in the tying runs in the fifth with a homer over the left-field wall. The Jaguars had a chance for more but couldn’t add on that inning, so it remained 5-5.

But not for long. Senior catcher Logen McFerron gave the Jaguars their first lead, 6-5, with an RBI base hit up the middle.

Blue Springs South expanded its advantage with the four-run sixth while holding CBC scoreless after the third inning.

Last year at this time, Blue Springs South beat Staley 8-6 for its first Class 6 title. The Jaguars’ second comes back-to-back and in the final year for head coach Ben Baier, who has announced that he’s retiring.

CBC finishes the 2026 season 27-17-1.

In the game for third place in Class 6, Vianney beat Rockhurst 7-3. Blue Springs South beat the Hawklets in Friday’s semifinals to advance to Saturday’s championship game.

The Class 5 final was still to come Saturday, with Willard taking on St. Dominic at 7 p.m. — after Platte County plays Chaminade College Prep for third place at 4 p.m.

KC’s newest state champions

As a reminder, three teams from the KC area won state titles earlier in the week on the Ozark tournament diamond.

Excelsior Springs beat Orchard Farm 2-0 for the Class 4 crown; Faith Christian Academy edged Portageville 5-4 for the Class 2 title; and Northland Christian shut out St. Elizabeth 10-0 for the Class 1 championship.

Blair Oaks of Springfield claimed the Class 3 title Thursday evening, beating Duchesne 11-1.

The state baseball tournaments and girls soccer tourneys were the last events of the 2026 spring seasons for high school sports in the Show Me State. Both sports wrapped up Saturday.

Here’s a rundown of this year’s Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) state championship baseball games, by classification:
