Kansas City-area high school football teams are getting ready for the playoffs and you can now vote for the Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season.

This season, The Star is holding a weekly poll for readers to vote on their chosen student-athlete in the Kansas City area.

Every Monday, after the games are finished, The Star asks high school football coaches around the Kansas City area to nominate players to be recognized. Nominees are included in a poll posted online each Wednesday, with voting open until Thursday night, and the winner announced each Friday.

Last week, readers selected Oak Grove High School’s Noah Spencer as the Player of the Week. The junior running back ran the ball 20 times for 287 yards and three touchdowns in his team’s 45-20 victory over Harrisonville High School on Oct. 13.

This week, we heard from schools in Kansas City, Liberty, Lawrence Olathe and more.

As they say: Vote early and vote often. You have until midnight Thursday night. Here are your nominees for Player of the Week.
