These boys soccer teams advanced to Missouri’s final-four semifinals with Saturday wins
Blue Springs and Rockhurst won 1-0 Missouri Class 4 boys high school soccer quarterfinal matches on Saturday, and will next play in the state semifinals on Friday.
And they weren’t the only Kansas City-area schools to reach the respective final fours for Missouri’s four enrollment-based classifications.
Forward Mason Willier scored the only goal Blue Springs needed to be beat Kickapoo 1-0, while freshman Uchan Kohring provided the Hawklets all the scoring they required to move past Park Hill 1-0.
Blue Springs advances to play Jackson on Friday at 4 p.m. in the Class 4 semifinals. Rockhurst plays John Burroughs Friday at 7 p.m. Both games will be at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton.
The Class 4A championship game is Saturday, same venue, at 7 p.m.
In the Class 2 quarterfinals Saturday, Excelsior Springs and Harrisonville both won to move into the semifinals.
Excelsior Springs beat Logan-Rogersville 3-2 in penalty kicks and will meet Perryville, a 6-1 Saturday winner over St. Mary’s (St. Louis), in Friday’s semifinals at 2:30 p.m.
Harrisonville beat Chillicothe 1-0 and plays Whitfield, a 6-0 Saturday winner over Christian, on Friday at 5 p.m.
Both Class 2 semifinals are at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton. The Class 2 championship game is Saturday, Nov. 20 at 4 p.m., also in Fenton.
In Class 3 action Saturday evening, Van Horn advanced to the semifinals with a 2-0 victory over Guadalupe Centers Charter. The Facolns got goals from senior Edwin Vargas and junior Jhonny De la Rosa.
Van Horn plays Fort Zumwalt South, a 2-1 winner Saturday night over Rockwood Summit, in Friday’s 1:30 p.m. semi at the Fenton soccer complex. Win that game and the Falcons would play for a state championship at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
