Rockhurst boys win Missouri swim/dive championship. Lee’s Summit West places second

The Rockhurst High School boys swimming and diving team won the Missouri Class 2 state championship on Saturday, finishing 39 points ahead of runner-up Lee’s Summit West at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters.

Rockhurst accumulated 329 team points, followed by Lee’s Summit West with 290, St. Louis University High with 236 and Park Hill South with 204.

Lee’s Summit West’s Connor Bichsel won the 100 breaststroke in 56.93 seconds, with Rockhurst’s Dominick Damico second in 57.17.

The Lee’s Summit West team fared well in the relays. West won the 200 free relay, with Rockhurst second. The Hawklets picked up points there as well as with another silver showing in the 400 free relay.

Lee’s Summit West placed first in the 200 medley relay, followed by Rockhurst, SLUH and Park Hill South.

Park Hill South swimmers finished 1-2 in the 500 free, with Alec Enyeart first in 4:22.63 and Derek Long second in 4:36.15. Enyeart also won the 200 free in 1:38.11.

Liberty’s Ian Everett topped the 100 free in 45.56, followed by Lee’s Summit West’s Leo Kurucz (45.77) and Rockhurst’s Caden Francois (45.83).

Caleb Ellis of Lee’s Summit West won the 200 individual medley in 1:49.41, with Liberty’s Caden Murphy second in 1:53.05 and Lee’s Summit West’s Bichsel third in 1:53.77.

Blue Springs South’s Carter McIntosh touched the wall first in the 50 free in a time of 21.22. Lee’s Summit West’s Thomas Wozniak (21.28) and Hickman’s Sam Ragsdell (also 21.28) tied for second.

Sebastian Lawrence of SLUH won the dive competition. Rockhurst’s Owen Stuckey was fourth.

The Class 1 competition concluded Friday.
