The Chainsmokers’ free concert in KC is delayed. What happens to premium passes?

Fans will have to wait another week to see The Chainsmokers because of the severe weather forecast for Saturday, June 13, officials with KC2026 announced on social media.

“Due to the severe weather forecast for the evening of Saturday, June 13, The Chainsmokers performance has been rescheduled to Sunday, June 21,” FIFA World Cup 26 Kansas City said in a statement. “The FIFA Fan Festival will still open at 2 p.m. today as planned and we will continue to actively monitor conditions. Fans planning to attend should check official KC2026 channels for updates before traveling and follow instructions from on-site staff.”

The free concert’s postponement also left fans wondering what happens with the Premium Garden and Legacy Lounge passes they purchased for Saturday’s FIFA Fan Fest. Comments left on the FWC Instagram post asked, “What about passes? Do we have to get new passes now??”

Premium and legacy passes were sold out for June 13, and if you were one of the guests who bought one in anticipation of seeing The Chainsmokers, here’s what KC 2026 said:

“Because of the nature of the significant storm forecast for later today, and because we are still early in the tournament, we are working with premium and legacy passholders for June 13th to give them options to change the date of their pass to other available dates. Please check your email, as a message was sent to every email address that was used to register an account that purchased priority passes for June 13th.”

An email showing next steps was shared with The Star from premium pass holder Kyle Steffens, who traveled to see the show. The email stated:

“As a Premium Garden or Legacy Lounge passholder for June 13, you can still use your pass today, or at this stage in the tournament, we may be able to accommodate one of the following options:”

  • Change your pass(es) to the rescheduled performance date (June 21)
  • Change your pass(es) to another available date

“Please follow this link to submit your preference for any unused June 13th passes before midnight tonight. Pass requests received after this will not be eligible.”

The email doesn’t say anything about refunds for passes.

“Extremely pissed off as the Chainsmokers had already scheduled Las Vegas last night before this was even canceled,” Steffens said in a message. “My friends and I have lots of travel and hotel expense already put into this weekend.”

Premium and legacy passes are also not available to purchase on Sunday, June 21, the new date for The Chainsmokers, as the date isn’t listed on the website.

The option to purchase premium passes for Sunday, June 21, the new date for the free concert from EDM duo The Chainsmokers, isn’t available on FIFA World Cup 26 Kansas City’s Fan Fest website.

Premium passes cost $55 each day, and includes access to an exclusive standing-room viewing area, premium restrooms, a dedicated bar area and access to premium food options.

Legacy passes cost $225 each day and include the benefits of the premium passes, along with access to an air-conditioned lounge, a two-tiered viewing structure for the main stage, all-inclusive food options, a premium beverage package and climate-controlled restrooms. This area’s maximum capacity is 500 people.
