KC Roos men’s basketball picks up fourth straight win with home victory over Omaha
The Kansas City Roos men’s basketball team is officially on a roll.
The Roos took care of business at home on Saturday night: Kansas City beat Omaha 63-58 at Swinney Center.
It was the Roos’ fourth straight victory and fifth win in their last seven outings. With those wins, Kansas City has improved to 14-15 overall and 8-6 in the Summit League.
Kansas City swept the season series with Omaha (14-16, 7-8). The Roos won in Omaha 74-72 on Jan. 20.
The Roos’ Jamar Brown dropped in 22 points for KC on Saturday, while Allen David Mukeba Jr. finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jayson Petty scored 11 points and pulled down eight rebounds for the Roos.
Kansas City out-rebounded Omaha 35-32.
Omaha’s Frankie Fidler strung together a game-high 29 points for Omaha. Fidler made 13 of 14 free throws. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
The Roos will be heading west toward the mountains for a matchup at Denver on Thursday. The Roos will be playing for another sweep. KC beat Denver 85-71 at Swinney Center on Feb. 1.
KC Roos women’s basketball at Omaha Mavericks
The Kansas City Roos women’s team also completed a season sweep of the Omaha Mavs.
The Roos rolled past the Mavs 72-56 in Omaha.
It was also Kansas City’s first road victory in a Summit League game this season. The Roos are 12-17 overall and 3-11 in the Summit. Omaha dropped to 6-22 overall and 2-13 in league play.
KC’s Tamia Ugass and Alayna Contreras each scored 15 points in the victory.
The Roos held Omaha to 23.5% shooting from the field for the game.
