Missouri football receives verbal pledge from Indianapolis offensive lineman
Missouri received its third known commitment for the 2017 recruiting class Saturday when Ben Davis High offensive tackle Pompey Coleman committed on a visit to Columbia.
“First off, I want to say thank you to every coach that has contacted and offered me,” Coleman wrote on in a note that he posted on Twitter. “After a long and thought out process, I’ve decided to commit to the University of Missouri! I feel it’s the best fit for me as a student and an athlete. I’m looking forward to the next stage of my life! #MizzouMade”

Coleman, a three-star prospect from Indianapolis ranked No. 8 overall in Indiana by Rivals, also had offers from Louisville, Kentucky Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Purdue, Syracuse and Virginia among others.
As a junior, Coleman, a 6-foot-5 and 265-pound prospect who 247 Sports lists as the No. 4 player in Indiana and No. 53 offensive tackle in the 2017 recruiting, played at left and right tackle.
Coleman, who is Scout’s No. 43 offensive tackle, is lean and athletic. He displays the strength to drive block on film along with the speed to latch on in space at the second level.
The Tigers, who only have seven healthy offensive linemen in spring camp, are in desperate need of a talent infusion at Coleman’s position. He’s the second offensive lineman to commit in his class.
Coleman joins Hyrin White — a 6-6, 275-pound offensive lineman from DeSoto, Texas — and Hogan Prep running back DaRon Davis as 2017 verbal commitments. Davis projects as a wide receiver at Mizzou.
