Grain Valley High School alum Grace Slaughter has already cemented herself as one of the best players in Missouri Tigers women’s basketball history.

The junior guard has done so in just three years by racking up accolades like the one she received Tuesday, when she was named second-team All-Southeastern Conference — the third SEC award of Slaughter’s collegiate career.

She also made this season’s Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year preseason and midseason watch lists; was last year’s SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year; and earned a spot on the 2023-24 All-SEC Freshman team.

The 6-foot-2 Slaughter this season leads first-year head coach Kellie Harper’s team in points, averaging 18.9 per game. That ranks fifth in the SEC and 33rd in the nation. She’s also averaging a team-best 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 45.8% from the field and 37.9% beyond the 3-point line.

Slaughter surpassed 1,000 career points in November. She has scored 585 thus far this season and ranks 13th on Mizzou’s all-time scoring list.

The last Mizzou player to earn an all-conference selection was Hayley Frank of Strafford. She was second-team All-SEC in 2022-23.

The Tigers — 16-15, 4-12 in league — next travel to Greenville, South Carolina as a 14-seed in the SEC Tournament. Mizzou faces 11-seed Alabama in the opening round on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
