After spending three years as a special teams assistant for the Missouri Tigers football team, Brock Olivo is joining the Miami Dolphins’ new coaching staff in the same role.

Olivo is a Missouri alum who played running back from 1994-97. As a senior, he was voted the NCAA Special Teams Player of the Year and second-team All-Big 12. After his illustrious career, his No. 27 jersey was retired and he was inducted into the Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame as a member of the 2025 class.

After graduating from college in Columbia, Olivo went undrafted in 1998, spending time on the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad before working for four years as a key member of the Detroit Lions' special teams unit.

He returned to Mizzou as a special teams analyst starting in 2023 under special teams coordinator Erik Link. Olivo had three previous stints in the NFL from 2016-19, working for the Chiefs, Broncos and Bears.

The former Tiger was born in St. Louis and raised in Hermann. Olivo attended St. Francis Borgia High School, leading the Knights to an undefeated state title while winning the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior.

He is now one of the most recent hires of new Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley, who spent the last two years as the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator. Olivo will work directly under new special teams coordinator and fellow Missouri native Chris Tabor, who spent four years at Mizzou.

Tabor was a Tigers graduate-assistant before being promoted to running backs coach and special teams coach in his final season in Columbia.
