Preseason accolades continue for Mizzou football left guard Cayden Green
Missouri left guard Cayden Green continues to rack up national recognition ahead of the 2025 season.
On Wednesday, the Lee’s Summit North product was named a second-team preseason All-American by Sporting News. He was listed behind only Penn State’s Olaivavega Ioane among left guards.
Green, a former five-star recruit, transferred to Mizzou from Oklahoma ahead of the 2024 season and quickly became a mainstay on the Tigers’ offensive line. Now entering his junior year, Green has already proven to be one of the SEC’s most reliable linemen. According to Pro Football Focus, he’s surrendered just one sack over 676 career pass-blocking snaps.
Missouri’s offensive line will look different this fall, with Green and center Connor Tollison as the only returning starters from the 2024 unit.
Green has earned multiple preseason honors this summer, including All-America recognition from Athlon Sports and the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He was also named a first-team preseason All-American by Phil Steele and earned a spot on the preseason All-SEC first team.
Still, Green is focused on what’s ahead.
“I don’t even see it,” Green said. “I’m trying to focus on getting better and winning.”
With Mizzou retooling up front, Green has embraced a leadership role.
“Just trying to help people know what they’re doing, really,” he said. “I’ve been in this scheme, in this playbook for a year now, so I know a little bit more what I’m doing. So just trying to help guys know what they’re doing.”
