Missouri Tigers enter weekend with 2 new football pickups, including 4-star QB
Gavin Sidwar, a four-star quarterback in the class of 2026, announced his commitment to Mizzou on Friday.
Hailing from Warrington, Pennsylvania, Sidwar had decomitted from Rutgers in October after verbally pledging to the Scarlet Knights in July.
After he reopened his recruitment, he took unofficial visits to a handful of power conference schools, including Ohio State and Ole Miss. Notably, he took an unofficial visit to Mizzou on Wednesday; two days later, he committed to the Tigers.
Sidwar is the third Mizzou commit in the class of 2026, along with defensive lineman Anthony Kennedy Jr. and defensive back D’Montae Tims.
Should Sidwar remain committed to MU, he’d join a quarterback room that’s suddenly filled with Pennsylvanians. Freshman Matt Zollers is from Royersford, and graduate Beau Pribula is from York. Pribula comes to Mizzou after two seasons at Penn State.
Gavin Hoffman pledges Missouri Tigers in 2025
Earlier Friday, Gavin Hoffman, a product of Blue Valley Northwest High School, signed with Mizzou. The former Iowa tight end took a visit to Columbia on Thursday after entering the transfer portal April 7.
Hoffman spent one year with the Hawkeyes and did not see the field, but he was a four-star recruit and the 12th-best tight end in the class of 2024, according to 247Sports.
The Tigers recruited Hoffman out of high school, even getting him on campus for an official visit in June, but he ultimately chose Iowa.
The 6-5, 245-pound pass-catcher from Leawood is the cousin of former Mizzou women’s basketball players Sophie and Lindsey Cunningham.
He joins a tight end room at Mizzou that features incumbent starter Brett Norfleet, junior Jordon Harris, redshirt freshman Jude James, true freshman Dakotah Terrell and Colorado State transfer Vince Brown II.
Hoffman comes to the Tigers with four years of eligibility remaining.
