Mizzou basketball adds name with family ties as first addition from the transfer portal

The Missouri Tigers are building for the 2025-26 men’s basketball season, on Thursday adding a name that fans of MU will recognize immediately.

Mizzou’s first transfer addition of the offseason, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, is 6-foot-11 forward Jevon Porter.

Formerly of Loyola Marymount, Jevon Porter is the younger brother of former Mizzou star and current Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. Jevon Porter is set to become the fifth sibling from the family to play for the Tigers, following in the footsteps of older brother Michael and Jontay Porter (men’s hoops) and sisters Bri and Cierra Porter (women’s).

The newest Porter’s decision to come to Columbia is a homecoming, as he starred at Tolton High. He committed to Pepperdine out of high school as a three-star recruit and played there for two seasons. He averaged 12.1 points per game as a freshman and 16.2 as a sophomore.

Jevon Porter was a target for Mizzou during last year’s transfer cycle, but he chose Loyola Marymount instead. He averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds this past season for the Lions, shooting 39.4% from the field and 31.6% from 3-point range.

His apparent addition to the Mizzou roster comes a couple of days after Tigers forward and former Blue Valley High star Aidan Shaw announced he was entering the portal.
