Mizzou football receiver Luther Burden to walk on senior day vs. Arkansas | Notebook

Missouri football wide receiver Luther Burden III will be honored alongside the Tigers’ senior class against Arkansas on Friday at Memorial Stadium, coach Eli Drinkwitz announced Tuesday.

The junior has been a three-year starter for the No. 21 Tigers after committing to Mizzou as a five-star recruit and consensus top-10 player in the Class of 2022.

“We’re very fortunate for Luther to have been here for three seasons,” Drinkwitz said Tuesday.

Burden is widely speculated to forgo his senior season in favor of entering the NFL Draft. No decision has been made about Burden’s future yet, according to Drinkwitz.

Burden will be among 27 players recognized during Saturday’s senior day celebration. The event will also honor several members of the Tigers’ 2020 recruiting class — Drinkwitz’s first at Mizzou — including quarterback Brady Cook and defensive end Johnny Walker Jr., along with several transfers and members of the 2021 recruiting class.

“Definitely going to be emotional. I can already feel that,” Cook said. “It’s just a little sad. ... But at the end of the day, we’ve got to go win that game. My reward will be getting carried off by my teammates, picking out my rock, but in order to do that, we’ve got to win this game.”

Connor Tollison to return next season

Missouri redshirt-junior center Connor Tollison has informed the Tigers coaching staff that he intends to return for Missouri next season, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Tuesday.

Tollison suffered a season-ending knee injury in Mizzou’s 30-23 win against Oklahoma on Nov 9. The Jackson, Missouri product has started 34 games across the last three seasons for the Tigers. His return will strengthen an offensive line unit that is set to lose graduates Cam’Ron Johnson and Mitchell Walters.

Prior to Tollison’s knee injury, the center was a projected interior offensive line selection in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Corey Batoon named Broyles Award nominee

First-year defensive coordinator Corey Batoon was named a nominee for the Broyles Award, the Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation announced Tuesday.

The Broyles Award, named after former Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles, is given annually to the top assistant coach in college football.

Alongside Batoon, 65 total coaches were named nominees for the award in 2024. Former Missouri defensive coordinator Blake Baker, whom Batoon replaced, was also named a nominee for his work in his first season at LSU.

Batoon has now been nominated for the award on two occasions. He was named a nominee while at South Alabama in 2021.
