Amari Davis, Missouri’s third-leading scorer from last season, has become the latest Tigers men’s basketball player to enter the transfer portal.

He’s the eighth player from Mizzou’s roster last season to enter the portal.

Davis wrote on his social media account: “I want to thank Mizzou for everything I learned and was shown I want to thank coach (Cuonzo) Martin and his staff for bringing me in with open arms. This was an amazing stop in my basketball career with that being said I will be entering the transfer portal. #RespectMyDecision

The 6-foot-3 guard had his best game in a victory at Mississippi. Davis scored 23 points and made all 10 shots from the field. The effort matched a school record for field goal accuracy.

Davis averaged nine points in 27.2 minutes while starting 13 of 32 games. He had spent his first years in college at Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he averaged 15.9 points and 17.2 points as a freshman and sophomore.

Recently, new Tigers coach Dennis Gates picked up a couple of players through the transfer portal, most recently guard Nick Honor from Clemson. Davis’ departure gives Gates two open scholarships to use for next season.
