Missouri appears to have found its point guard for next season.

Sean East, who averaged 20.9 points and 5.7 assists in junior college last season, announced on his Twitter account that he has committed to the Tigers.

East was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I player of the year after leading John A. Logan of Carterville, Illinois to a 29-4 record, district championship and spot on the NJCAA championship bracket. He scored 43 in the team’s national-tournament loss.

“His work ethic is the best I have coached,” Logan coach Kyle Smithpeters said.

Missouri will be East’s third Division I school. He played in 31 games and started 20 as a freshman at Massachusetts in 2019-20, averaging 9.3 points and 4.9 assists.

As a sophomore, East played at Bradley and averaged 9.0 points and 3.7 assists. He started 20 of 24 games, his assists average ranking third in the Missouri Valley Conference. That season, Bradley played at Missouri, too — East scored four points as the Tigers prevailed 54-53. In his two Division I seasons, East shot 44..3% overall and 33.3% from three-point range.

He is the fifth transfer onto coach Dennis Gates’ first Missouri roster, joining Northern Iowa’s Noah Carter, Treo Golmillion from Cleveland State, DeAndre Gholston from Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Mohamed Diarra from Garden City (Kan.) Community College.
