Mizzou Tigers officially add Blue Valley’s Aidan Shaw, East St. Louis’ Christian Jones
Four-star forward Aidan Shaw and guard Christian Jones both signed their national letters of intent with Missouri men’s basketball on Wednesday.
From Blue Valley High School, the 6-foot-8 Shaw is the highest ranked recruit to join the Mizzou program since 2017, when the Tigers added Michael Porter Jr., Jontay Porter and Jeremiah Tilmon for MU coach Cuonzo Martin’s first season. Shaw is rated No. 52 overall and the third-best player in Kansas, according to the 247 Sports Composite.
“Aidan is an exceptional athlete whose talent and potential is through the roof,” Martin said in a press release. “He is a tireless worker and a consistent winner. We began building a relationship with Aidan and his family when I first arrived at Mizzou and it quickly became apparent that Aidan is the type of player that personifies Mizzou Basketball – elite talent and elite character.”
Jones, a 6-foot-4 combo guard out of East St. Louis High School, committed to Mizzou as the first player in the 2022 class in July. He is unranked by the 247 Sports Composite, though Rivals lists him as a three-star.
“Christian is a combo guard that will bring great size, athleticism and skill to our perimeter,” Martin said. “He has the ability to distribute and score the ball at a high level, as well as effectively impact play on the defensive end. We look forward to seeing Christian positively impact all facets of our program.”
Shaw and Jones are the only scholarship players on board so far for the Tigers’ class, which ranks 10th in the SEC and 58th in the country, according to 247 Sports. The team also announced 6-foot-3 guard Jackson Francois will join the Tigers as a walk-on. Francois, from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, is the son of athletic director Desiree-Reed Francois.
The coaching staff is also targeting five-star recruit Mark Mitchell, the No. 15 player in the 2022 class, per the 247 Sports Composite. Mizzou is among the final three schools for the Sunrise Christian Academy product, along with UCLA. He plans to make a commitment next month and sign in the spring.
