Former Bishop Miege High School basketball standout Mark Mitchell, who is now a senior at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas, has decided to wait until spring to sign with a college.

Mitchell, a 6-foot-8, 210-pound small forward, reported in a Twitter direct message to The Star that he has eliminated Kansas from his list of four schools. He now has a final list of Missouri, UCLA and Duke.

“I’m committing sometime next month,” he said.

“I’m just taking my time,” he added, asked if he had a main reason for waiting until the spring to sign. The week-long early signing period starts Wednesday.

Mitchell, who is ranked No. 11 in the recruiting Class of 2022 by Rivals.com and 247sports.com and No. 30 by ESPN.com, has completed campus visits to all of his finalists.

He competed in a high school tournament in Duncanville, Texas last weekend.

“I think people know that me and Kansas aren’t talking anymore so it’s just really those other three schools,” Mitchell told Rivals.com at the event. “I’ll probably have a decision next month. I’ve seen all I need to see.”

“Duke and UCLA seem to be the two most likely destinations with Mizzou, which also had at least one coach on hand Saturday, running in third,” wrote Rob Cassidy of Rivals.com.
